ABOUT YOGA


Yoga is a complete system that comprises many varied practices to achieve great physical strength and flexibility, vitality and longevity, mental and emotional peace, clear thinking and memory, creativity and ultimately balanced health through a balance of practices.  Yoga is derived from Ancient Texts and teachings that can have importance in every aspect of life.

The Yoga Sutra’s, compiled at least 2000 years ago, reveals Patanjali’s profound understanding of the human mind, and its potentials.

His approach is that everybody is different, not just physically, but in energy, mind, emotion and spirit; so he presents a vast array of tools to choose from.  Yoga is a science and therapy, however, the spiritual development of the being is also presented as an anchor with which to find peace.

“Spirit, derived from the Latin ‘spiritus’ has several meanings: breath, intelligence, consciousness, sentience, the non-physical part of a being, the vital animating essence of a living being (Oxford), creativity; and spirit grows as an integral aspect of the living being” Wikipedia.

These days, many more people are becoming aware of the limitations of the common curative approach to health and seeking to make informed choices about their health; becoming proactive in their lives and pursuit of happiness. 

Many Yogis believe with right practices, humans can and should live to 150 years, and maintain quality of life.
